What we do

We help organisations harness the creativity and brilliance of their workforce using the scientifically proven tools and techniques of positive psychology. Our approach is currently unique and is designed to create high performing teams embedded in an agile culture enabling organisations to truly undertake digital transformation with all the sought for benefits.

We train individuals and teams to combine positive psychology with their current project management and agile methodologies. By integrating tools designed to promote human happiness and flourishing, something special happens – creativity is released, workplace culture transforms and productivity and performance go through the roof. What’s more, the resilience and capacity of individuals and teams to respond in the moment and deal with unforeseen events in a powerful, positive and creative way is greatly enhanced.

Ultimately our approach harnesses the limitless potential of human beings to adapt and thrive in challenging times, for the benefit of the organisation and themselves.

Why are we different?

Our approach is different. Combining positive psychology with agile methodologies (developed in the IT world to combat the sometimes catastrophic cost of failed projects) – we put people at the centre of everything we do. It recognises that people, as living breathing organisms have the innate capacity to continuously adapt to their habitat. As a consequence organisations also have the same innate ability, if the imagination, creativity and productivity of their people is unleashed. It requires a change  mindset that once embraced not only benefits the organisation but also all the people within it, having a positive knock-on effect in all areas of life. Resilience and sustainability are inevitable when we stop treating ourselves, our organisations and our planet as a machine and start transforming our organisations into living entities that are fully capable of responding creatively, imaginatively and ongoingly to the environment.

It’s also intensely practical and results oriented, because ultimately people love the sense of achievement that comes from getting things done and making a difference.

What’s with the Bee Metaphor?

We think that bee hives and bees provide the perfect metaphor for what we teach. Individual bees are self-managing and work extremely hard for the good of the whole, yet are totally cooperative. They continuously respond and adapt to the ever changing environment, communicating with each other about the location of flowers in bloom. If something happens to their Queen, they instantly adapt how they feed their larvae to produce a new Queen and visit each flower twice – once to collect the nectar and once to pollinate the plant, giving back for what they have taken.

Our Work

Our work is based on the latest scientific research into resilience including findings from positive psychology.

Positive psychology is the study of the positive aspects of human nature such as well-being, happiness and flourishing.  In the words of its founder Martin Seligman it is the:

scientific study of optimal human functioning [that] aims to discover and promote the factors that allow individuals and communities to thrive”.

Bringing the well-researched principles of positive psychology to modern organisational problems such as product development, productivity and competition has a profound impact on the effectiveness of both individuals and organisations. Often the issues that seem insoluable for an organisation find their roots in the thinking and emotions of the people in those organisations and the culture they create.

Up until now it has been very difficult to tackle issues of culture and thinking with old methods focusing on fixing what doesn’t work. People are naturally resistant to being told that there’s something wrong with them and that they need to change their behaviour.

Positive psychology offers a radical new approach. By focusing on what makes people happy and what contributes to their well-being and flourishing, people want to learn and practice what is on offer. Once they see the result for themselves it is remarkable how quickly the new ways take root. The reduction in stress levels and the improvement in relationships and cooperation mean a corporate culture can be transformed. And funnily enough, it also massively decreases the risk factors affecting an organisation with an increase in transparency and responsibility. In other words the organisation becomes properly resilient.
